In an effort to revamp their receiver corps the Detroit Lions agreed to a one year deal with free agent Anquan Boldin. Following the retiring of star and franchise icon Calvin Johnson the Lions have being trying to replace his production. The Lions however know that there is no player on the market who could put up Johnson’s numbers . As a result the Lions have been making themselves deeper at the wide receiver position.
The Lions already added free agent Marvin Jones to go along with Golden Tate as the starters. Boldin gives quarterback Matthew Stafford another reliable veteran option. Boldin has also played for the Cardinals, Ravens, and 49ers putting up his best numbers with Arizona. He is a three time Pro Bowler. Since being drafted in 2003 by the Cardinals Boldin has caught 74 touchdown passes. Although the Lions can never replace Johnson they can try to duplicate his production with a combination of different players. So far their of to a good start.
